Christmas In Darrara NS
At this joyful time of the year it is more relevant than any other that we think of those less fortunate than ourselves. The staff has chosen the following charities this year: Clonakilty Red Cross Youth on behalf of CORK PENNY DINNERS ADVENT BOX. We would be very grateful for donations of any of the following items before Friday 16th December Tea Towels Tins of Fruit / Beans / Peas / Soup Cooking Oil Hand Wash Cling Film Coffee Refuse Sacks Pot Scourers Biscuits Custard Coffee Tea Paper Towels Toilet Paper Tin Foil Washing Up Liquid Salt Pepper There are boxes in the hall for these items. Thanks to Amy Calnan for organising this collection. And Cork Simon Community – We are holding a Christmas Jumper / Hat / Colours day on Wednesday 21st December. All members of the school community are asked to wear any or all of the above and bring a €1 for Cork Simon Community PARISH CAROL SERVICE All children from 2nd to 6th classes are taking part in the Parish Carol Service in the Parish Church at 7.15pm on Sunday 18th December. We are performing a multi lingual rendition of Adeste Fideles. The children are busy practicing verses in Latin, Gaeilge, English and Spanish. Full blue uniform must be worn by all children on the night. Performers may come to school at 11am the following morning Monday December 19th. After last years’ fantastic performance we expect to have a great night.

Changes to Opening and Closing
Our ballot on changing the opening and closing times of the school was carried by a large majority. Details will follow in Nov/Dec issue of Acorns.
Fund Raising
PA disco raised 62.10 for Bru Columbanus accommodation for families of patients in CUH. Final total Maths equipment was 425.10. Many thanks for your support.
Swimming Charge Now Due

The charge for 8 weeks of swimming including the bus for this academic year is as follows
Swimming: 8 weeks €2,032.00 ÷ 44 pupils = €46.18 per pupil
Bus to swimming: €120.00 x 8 weeks = €960.00 ÷ 44 pupils= €21.81 per pupil.
TOTAL : €67.36
This year we are asking you to pay by cheque or bank transfer by October 2016.

SAFETY ALERT
Please be extra vigilant at the gate at drop off and collection times. Due to the road closure at Lackenduff, we are experiencing extra traffic which is passing at high speed. This will continue until Nov. 25th. We are awaiting maintenance of the flashing lights on the Timoleague approach. Sign will be erected over the coming days to alert drivers.
